if we could help one child...

we are a family based club who would do anything to help a child.  our primary charity is the Shriner's Burns Hospital for Children.  we're lucky to have this facility located in our city.  the services provided there are world class and... at no charge to the patients.  seated in the front row is our board of directors (minus me behind the camera).  from the left is Dan our president, Rose our treasurer, Mary our secretary and Joe our vice president.  thru your support of the Pumpkin Run we were able to give the hospital a check for $50,000.  it took a lot of volunteers to pull this off (there aren't that many Fastiques).  this check was presented at the annual appreciation luncheon for our sponsors and volunteers.  to date, Fastiques Rod & Custom has been able to give the hospital over $600,000.  we are a non profit organization.  when you support one of our events, you're money is going to go to support a worth while cause, we have several.

the Guy behind the BS

yep, this is me.  my name is John and i manage club communications.  i DRIVE a '66 concours Mustang GT.  Fastiques love their cars but they don't care much for trailers.  my car may be technically correct down to the markings on nuts and bolts but... i no longer slide under it to polish the springs and drive shaft.  honestly, i wouldn't fit anymore.  i think that is why most street rods are built low, so nobody would look.

Medium Rare Merc

why is it medium rare? no, not the color but the owner. this is club member and vice president Joe Herrera's Merc.  since he lives out of town (Middletown), we don't see it much either.  in fact, urban legend has it that he actually drives it.  look for this car, its owner and other oddities at the Pumpkin Run next year.

Got Fins?

the Pumpkin Run does.  you'd have to go to Sea World to see more fins. sorry guys and gals, Shamu doesn't come in "candy apple red" just black & white.
so if you rather have a splash of color rather than water, see you the first weekend in October.

the Gang at NSRA Grand Nationals

i didn't say beauty pageant.  although i am a pro photographer, i didn't do this shot.  i may teach Photoshop at UC but fixing this would be a master's thesis.  actually i was there working for PPG.  i photograph their award winning cars for their following year's ads.  honestly though, PPG pays much better than this lot.  the guy in the back with the short attention span is my pal Phil.

Our Fearless Leader's Ride

Dan Gavey is the President of Fastiques and the lead buffalo at the Pumpkin Run.  this one of Dan's cars and it is about as cool as they come.
can you say "Road Rocket?"
of course you can.

Another Car from the John Howard Collection

John has about 10 cars, i on the other hand do not have the storage space nor cash for ten trash cans.  there are a few members that believe that my '66 Mustang might count as one.  this wagon is tricked out with a surf board and none of us would doubt that John would hang ten down the Ohio if the surf was up.

2009 Pumpkin Run Nationals Give Away Car Winner

David Thompson from Morrow, Ohio won this year's give away car.  each year we purchase a new car body and chassis thru Danny's Rod Shop.  as the year progresses, sponsors and donors will provide parts for services for this project.  Danny will use these and assemble them to the car.  at the awards presentation
a ticket will be drawn from the hopper for a winner.  to enter the drawing; you must have a car entered in the show.  to win the car, your ticket must be drawn, you must be present, the car must be registered in your name and... it must start.  generally these cars average a value of $25,000.

also show in the picture is David's significant other, Fastiques' president Dan Gavey and Fastiques' long term friend and sponsor Danny Mink.

2009 Awards Banquet is Coming Up Soon

this was from last year's banquet, but look what a few street rodders can do when they try...  i think our president needs a taller hat for the photo. at least we could have pinned a tassel on it.

A Few Members' Rides

Loren Henning's '48 Merc. "if i had a dollar i'd tell you what i do, go down town and buy a Mercury or two..."  Loren did.

James Cooper.  i don't have the details on his car yet but you can tell by the flames and the the fact that he is a member, it's fast...

John Howard is a Ford Falcon aficionado, so i'm not sure what he has here. usually you'll see him at the show towing a tear drop camper behind his Falcon wagon.  looks like he likes to step out in the high speed lane on occasion.

Fastiques' one and only Rose's '64 Thunderbolt. we not talking grocery getter here. that's right guys, we have some girls in our club and they're just as fast as the boys. just ask Doug Baker, he has a bunch of grand daughters that are all quicker than he is.

Pumpkin Run 2009

even in a bad economy, the response was amazing. we had approximately 2900 cars and trucks (1970 and older) turn out for a fun filled weekend. through your support, once again we will able to donate $50,000 to the Shriners Burns Hospital for Children. we have began planning for the 35th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals and pleased to announce that the give away car will be a 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe. we are hard at work lining up bands and other activities. i will be posting photos and keeping you up on the coolest car event in southwest Ohio.
